Pratt.tv/2010cd

This is the second year that I've made a compilation disc with the first one being "My Favorite Songs of 2009." That disc was so much fun to make, I knew I'd want to continue doing it. I put as many songs on the disc that would fit when burned as an "Audio CD" as apposed to a "MP3 CD" which has been 19 songs the past 2 years. A year ago, I made close to 50 copies of my "Favorite Songs of 2009" CD, handing and mailing them out to friends.

I've been looking forward to making this CD for the past 6 months, slowly adding to the list of what songs I would put on the CD. Each song on the disc is truly one of my favorites that came out in 2010. It's a song that I have given 4 or 5 stars in my iTunes library...a song that I have listened to over and over throughout the year and a song that I just can't help but to tell others about. With that said, I put the tracks in order on the disc that I think they sound the best, listening to the front and back of each song as I put them in the order. Oh, and before I tell you what songs made it on my "Favorite Songs of 2010" CD, here are the rules:

• The song must come from a studio album
• The song has to be published in 2010
• No more than 2 songs on CD per artist/band.

Oh, and I decided to make this compilation CD a "Happy New Years" gift, because it's awesome to still be getting a gift in the mail after January 1st, right?! This year I mailed or handed out almost 80 discs to friends. I have such a blast picking the songs on the disc each year and I look forward to doing it each year or maybe inspiring you to create your own favorite songs of 2011.

So yesterday Pratt.tv was one of the sponsors on iwearyourshirt.com, which is when I kicked off this rad contest! I asked you all to go to facebook.com/PrattTV and post what your favorite person/place/thing is to take pictures of and you did.

At 5pm EST, when the contest ended, I went through the posts and selected the TOP 3 with the most "Likes", which were Kasie Glisson with 66 Likes, Ty Williams with 49 Likes and Dorothy Harris with 41 Likes. I then entered those 3 names into a "randomizer machine thingee"...in this case I used random.org and it spit out the winner...

There were a total of 38 posts on the Pratt.tv facebook page, which collectively gathered 339 Likes. Wowzers is what I've got to say about that!

People's answers ranged from babies and farms to historic landmarks and Kenny Chesney.

She had set the mouse trap in the barn and asked me to check every other day to see if there was anything there. She also asked me, in case there was a rat there, I sho...uld dump the dead rat on the bird house and leave it there. Well, one day the light was blinking and there was this long, thin tail outside the trap, so I knew I had to dump the dead rat on the birdhouse as she requested. OK, I did not touch the dead animal (just for the record), but then I thought why she would ask me to place the animal there. Before I knew it, there was this incredible, huge, beautiful hawk on the roof of the barn ready to take its meal. Before I put the animal down, on the roof of this tiny birdhouse, all I could hear was wing flaps and literally felt the air moving underneath its wings as the hawk got the rat and flew away! This story is important to me because it taught me how much we impact the environment and how delicate its balance is. Needless to say, how lucky I am to live in Florida and have such an exquisite chance to see a majestic bird so close and in such a personal experience. A few days later I returned to the barn and I was lucky to have the camera with me, here is how she thanked me ... she posed for the photo and let me know that it was alright to share our little adventure with y'all! God bless the USA, Joao!”

Pratt.tv is a project I've been working on since my last day at The Florida Times-Union, Sept. 22, 2010. My goal was to create a place on the internet where my world of social media and multimedia got together in one happy place. Gloria Byles, a 79-year-old great-grandmother, talks about how riding her Honda Shadow motorcycle makes her feel like she's "living on the edge" and that "there's nothing like it."

We flew up with a few of the acrobatic planes and Blue Angels on Thursday Nov. 5, 2009. They are a few of the performers at this weekend's Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular air show.

Al Stone, long-time bluesman and Jacksonville resident, who was recently inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, performed his song "Blind Dog" off his new record "I Want It All" in The Times-Union Photo studio on July 23, 2010.
